Walker Tienkung
The open, full-size humanoid platform for embodied-AI research and education
Walker Tienkung is a full-size humanoid robot developed jointly by UBTECH Robotics and the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center for academic research, education and secondary development. Standing 172 cm tall with up to 42 degrees of freedom and 300 N·m of peak joint torque, it delivers dynamically balanced, human-like locomotion that adapts to slopes, stairs and uneven terrain while resisting impacts and external disturbances. Three stereo-vision 3D cameras and a high-precision IMU feed an onboard Intel Core i7 motion-control unit, while up to two NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin modules supply as much as 550 TOPS for embodied-AI workloads. A 48 V hot-swappable dual battery sustains around three hours of continuous operation. Open interfaces to every joint and sensor, ROS 2 middleware, 1,000 Hz CAN/EtherCAT bus control, high-fidelity URDF models and open-source reinforcement-learning frameworks make it a genuinely extensible research platform. Two configurations are offered: Voice & Vision, and Embodied Intelligence, which adds 7-DoF arms, wrist-mounted six-axis force-torque sensors and 6-DoF five-fingered dexterous hands. Walker Tienkung shares its lineage with the Tien Kung platform whose Ultra variant won the world's first humanoid-robot half-marathon.
